spiceychilli57
Just got a new trap from Promatic (Brilliant by the way) looked at getting a wobble base for doing DTL, my jaw nearly hit the desk when i saw the price!! :o Got me thinking how easy it would be to make one... :hmm: Anybody had a go? love to know how you got on and any pics possibly Cheers Spicer
HDAV
Get and old bearing assembly car wheel hub etc weld to a frame (isnt the wobble base for ABT not DTL) get a windscreen wiper motor (assembly) and a 12 battery have a play about the wiper stalk and controller would work well allowing you to vary the speed, add a second motor to tilt the whole hub assembly back and forth as well as left to right (a decent wiper motor from a Van or truck (24V) shoudl do it, if your handy with a welder and have a friendly scrappy nearby should be under £100 and some fun, might not be upto CPSA standard tho! Might need to play about with some cams and arms See here: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/wiper1.htm & http://www.scary-terry.com/wipmtr/wipmtr.htm for info bits on using wiper motors

I made one a few years ago for my promatic superhawk. Will try and get some pics of it in the next few days. I used a wiper motor for the drive, does the job very well. spiceychilli57
Hi Nick, yeah had a go building one got on pretty well havent really tested it yet though. Will probably have a go with it on the superhawk when i get back from clays on Sunday see what its like. the only real problem was finding some sheet steel to attach everything to , srappies dont really do stuff like that. Finding that the standard motor speed is a bit quick so planning on pinching the speed controller from my magnet for a bit of testing
