Farmer-of-the-Futre
Hey all, my dad and i recently went on a roost shoot and returend with a peuney bag of 1! I was hoping to make this lone pigeon into a decoy. Has anyone ever made a decoy from a pigeon and is it worth it? I am guessing the right thing to do is to clean it out and prehaps stuff it? Any tips or guides will be greatfully accepted Thanks
Beardo
just get some half shell decoys - you can glue feather from real ones to them if you want - but i really wouldn't bother trying to stuff one - it won't last long in the field

Well at the moment we have about 8 full bodies and one bouncer.. Ill see if i can pick up a pack of 10 shells from my local shop then.. And i suppose you can throw plastic ones into a bag where as you wouldnt want to damadge real ones. Thanks
chrispti
Flock coated shells are better as they dont shine You could also keep 10 or so dead birds in a freezer (if you have room) to use as decoys. Just get them out the night before and hey presto. . . . . . . 10 of the best decoys you will ever use

missedagain
For shells you really need the use Pigeon Maxi Movers - they make a big difference. Forget trying to make a long term decoy out of a dead bird. I've had decent bags and fun using lofters - well worth the money for the poles. Using these you are not decoying to a food source - more to 'I am having s rest - its safe - join me'...
