Last night my brother was on the computer and something changed and all of our files dissapeared. We found them and moved some of the files back onto the desktop. Last night when he turned it off he didnt wait for it to fully shutdown before he switched off at the plug. This morning i came on the comp and all my files are missing... i have looked in recycle bin, searched all over the computer and done system restor but they have totally dissapeared. The folders are still there but no pictures etc inside.

Has anyone else got any ideas ?? Apart from get a seperate hard-drive from my brother !

Thanks GH

Hi George,

The only thing I can think of is that the folder properties are set to hidden- try right clicking a folder > properties> General> at the bottom of the tab, make sure 'hidden' is un-ticked.

Let me know if this solves it or not.

If it is XP, try a system restore.

Start, Programs, accessories, System tools, system restore.

You can restore your computer to a previous restore point before the problem time, to see if it solves it.

No guarantee it will work but the process is completely reversible.

Rob.

I have tried system restore and that doesn't work either. I got dad to have a look after work and he couldn't even do it so i think im just gona have to wipe the hard drive and learn my lesson... remember to back up your files.

I guess your next post will be from an internet cafe in the town then? :/
