PotHunter96
what normally happens when we shoot is the woodcock tend to sit REALLY tight when the weather isnt frosty and you have to literally step on top of them to get them up however in frosty weather the birds are up and away at 40 yards on some occasions i shot two woodcock a few weeks ago and the first one flicked out behind us as we were leaving the bracken and then the second one jumped out of a pile of branches in the middle of some reeds my point being that as it wasnt frosty on this occasion (we flushed three altogether the first one was on a bracken bang and we saw it sat on the floor about a yard in front of us a few seconds before it took flight)the birds were sitting really tight may not be the reason just a thought? was the weather frosty when you saw this one woodcock?
