silver pigeon 3
I had some good news today, went for a pint with a friend who asked me if i wanted to come in with him on a new flight pond. He has secured a lease on some flood land that adjoins 2 large lakes and has got permission from the land owner and the local council to re-dig an old pond totalling approx 1.75 acres. So hopefully with a lot of work we will be shooting it next year.
Spaniel
Nice one Ben good luck with it, a bit of hard work and you should get some good rewards
silver pigeon 3
Yeah well pleased mate, looking forward to the hard graft starting (but only when this season is over ) The lakes it backs onto already attracts large numbers of ducks and has a population of canada and greylag geese resident for most of the year, so we may have just hit the jackpot with this one. Cranfield
Well done. Having done something similar many moons ago, you will find it hard work, but there is a lot of satisfaction when the ducks show up. Don't forget to plant some natural hide material ASAP, as this helps make the pond more effective.
silver pigeon 3
Thanks for the advice Cranfield. It helps that even though the pond has silted over and become overgrown there are still various trees dotted around it as well as 3 large well established reed beds, so hopefully when it has all been cleared out it wont look like a newly dug lake
