scolopax
Woodpigeons, like all pigeon species only lay clutches of two eggs. They have been known to nest in all months of the year but the main nesting period is may to august. The peak two months probably being july and august to coincide with the cereal harvest. They are successful because they nest repeatedly through the breeding season and most importantly they feed the squabs on a pigeon 'milk' so are not restricted to particular feedstuffs.
