gun balance

Cranfields topic on his silver pigeon has just reminded me to post this as i think we both (and sean) have the same guns ie multi choke game guns with 28" barrels.I had been finding that mine was a little nose heavy so i have taken off the buttplate and fitted a piece of lead on the stock recess to bring its point of balance back to the hinge pin,the result is a much easier swinging gun that just feels much sweeter to shoot (not that it felt that bad before but im a fiddiler <_< )The only reasion i noticed anything was when trying a fixed choke version which presumably had lighter barrels a few days ago.The other thing that surprised me was how thin the wood is in a few places in the stock (take off the buttplate and you will see what i mean)i suppose this is to get the weight down for the game version

berretta are well know for being barrel heavy,i have a 682 an 687 and they both are i ajusted mine with a small deoderant bottle(impulse) yes it was my daughters,it was honest, it fits a treat in bolt hole for action bolt, and with some masking tape it will not rattle at all,i put lead shot from two cartridges ie 2x30grm inside it packed it full of cotton wool and then slid it in bolt hole, you can vary weight to suit towards stock end or middle of bottleor action end what ever suit,oh it also smell lovley :/
