  1. i wish i had come on here sooner and put my name down to shoot and meet some of you old boys as you all seemed to have a laugh as i was in the group in front of you nice hats by the way but it was nice too see you btms again ring one day and we will try and get all the old lot together for a shot
  2. its because the face mask i use makes me look like predator
  3. if you have chance to shoot over cabbage plants watch them closely, went out saturday and in 4 hrs got 108,and friday in 3hrs got 53 they are starting on a row and walking it down ,best time i found to shoot is about 3 o,clock onwards birds come in groups of around 4 to 5 but often, walked off around 300 first time and again next day about same amount good luck...
  4. i havent had 50p per bird for years, best price i have had is 35p for export to france,if your getting 50p well done
  5. i shot 63 pigeons an 9 rooks on rape which is about 2ft tall,i noticed birds on wires over field and watched them dropping into tram lines i walk them off and to my amazment about 300 or more got up out of field and landed in potatoe field oppisite, there is a pallet hide in field already so i set up just a magnet and after about 20 mins in they come,i must admit one went round with magnet and in the excitment i shot the wing of the magnet bird, the dog was having to work overtime, but keep an eye on rape late at about 5 to 5.30 best sport i have had for long time, noticed birds on there again tonite may go in week
  6. you should know!!!!lol
  7. cranfield for a good day out go to west london shooting ground for beretta world clay championships i shoot it every year and as a bonus gmk have a beretta gunsmith there and all repairs and alterations are free just book in and save a fortune, last year i had my 682 fixed in no time, never had problem since.
  8. berretta are well know for being barrel heavy,i have a 682 an 687 and they both are i ajusted mine with a small deoderant bottle(impulse) yes it was my daughters,it was honest, it fits a treat in bolt hole for action bolt, and with some masking tape it will not rattle at all,i put lead shot from two cartridges ie 2x30grm inside it packed it full of cotton wool and then slid it in bolt hole, you can vary weight to suit towards stock end or middle of bottleor action end what ever suit,oh it also smell lovley
  9. i service my guns myself, the action is a bit dawnting when you first look at it but they are not that hard to do, they must be cleaned with proper gun cleaner and oiled with gun oil ,some parts greased anything that looks worn or scored can be replaced or filed down to suit, you should only take on this task if you are confident to do so and have a little knowledge of gun maintenance and the workings of a gun,you could reblue your own barrels at one time,it takes time to get it right a friend of mine did this a while ago bit of a long drawn out job if you ask me but can be done, not sure exactly how you do it but he used a wallpaper trough, blueing agent a towel and a warm airing cuboard, oh and understanding wife,i think you soak barrels in blueing agent, then rap in towel leave in airing cuboard and repeat till happy i think thats how he did it as it was so long ago must be cheaper way ie pay gun smith
  10. i have a jack russell which will do its tripod dog impression all the time it will hold its right hind leg off the ground,i have noticed it will do this when it has woken up or jumps off things, but you say to it come on titch in the truck bingo instant cure they seem to play on this and also the vet has told me that they really are quite a lazy dog as they get older mine is 7years,he is a bit of an old fraud and everyone falls for it,i feel that like you and i sometimes you wake and your a bit stiff dogs must do the same after a hard day, "it really is a dogs life"
  11. shot over peas just coming through, nothing really all day and about 5.30 it went mad for about an hour they came in a treat and ended on 38 woodies,2 rooks and 1 magpie, but all day i could have bagged about 100 stock doves(but for those who did not know under the wildlife and countryside act of 1981 it is illegal to shoot these birds) they came in pairs and threes and fours all day, but still plenty of them about, going on thick clover this afternoon as this is were they all seem to have gone i went and watched them this morning and it was poisoned with pigeons will keep you posted
  12. just trying eley hawk best no 6.5, 30grm not bad stop things well, but i still am impressed by kent velocity no 6, 30grm £21 for 250
  13. you need lots of gravy to eat a whole clay ..he he
  14. my dad lives on a farm and it is a cattle farm mainly in the centre of constable country all very pretty i must say,but a bit smelly in summer but you get use to it,well unless you move from london about 100yrds away which happened and low and behold they too have golden retriever, green wellies, chelsea tractor and a real bad sense of smell,as the old people there never said a word about it my i old man just laughs at the never ending letters of complaint and comments his normal answer is that there noses are to close to there a..e you come to the country to enjoy it but some are just hell bent on ruinning it for others and true country folk i know every one has rights and that includes us as shooters so my answer to anyone who gets funny with me when i am out shooting is too take a long hard suck on the crack of my a.se.....
  15. army surplus store kit bag not ruck sack ten quid and for deeks att.....h surplies net typebag with shouder straps about £30 i can get 45 full bodies in this which i weighed and 12 dead birds are the same weight so you choose(you cant beat dead birds though)and bag for flask an eats,o and small radio for footy on sundays come on you leeds..tony go to car paint shop and get paint mixed up called cammo green and ask for it to be a flat colour,no gloss
  16. been watching pigeons dropping on rape which stands about 18" to 2ft tall nothing seems to be putting them off,you can only just see them
  17. i find dont just use just your net but make it blend in with your surroundings ie near ivy cut some up and dress your net with it not to obstruct your view but leave small alround window and cranfield is so right you must have a good back ground dark shade is good in my net i always carry a green canvase sheet which i hang inside net so birds cant see me move,it works a treat and keep movement to a minimum if poss,i also try to be inside hedge line and not stuck outside,if you have a good report with farmer put up a pallet in hedge to use as back ground and cover each side with ivy or as much evergreen as poss, birds get use to seeing it there and are not so bothered by it after while
  18. birds on sunday seemed well up for it first thing and about 9 to 9.30 that was it till about 2,3 oclock then came on well almost till dark(shot over barley drilling)

    GUN BARRELS

btms email your address and i will send you a realtree gun sock for a semi which i do not use,you can have this as it is only collecting dust.
  20. the stuff that should not be touched is a seed dressing but does not seem to affect birds,my brother-in-law has drilled peas and they are setting them at about 5" deep, also he is going to put maize in next month at about 6"deep,the best place to look on drillings is on headlands where drill had to be lifted to turn this will leave seed closer to top and birds will find this easily according to him, watch the rooks on drillings as when they have found the rows that is the call for pigeons, also rooks are as good a sport i think
  21. cranfield we can meet up at the cla and you can buy me a pint and i can tell you what a bloody nice bloke i am ..............lol....
  22. i shoot pigeons all year round and would not want a closed season, reason being who would say what time of year would it be,during breeding season, pigeons as i have read from so called experts can breed all year round weather permitting, and it would probably come from some plonker who only watches pigeons from out of his office windows, who would say sorry season closed, because my feelings are next thing you will be charged for a permit to shoot them, because they would see a market for this and then watch out wallet.............now i can get off me soap box NO TO CLOSED SEASON  >
  23. is the sky blue grasshopper
  24. me and my mate never leave home without them motorrola hand helds good for a laugh at each other
