The Duncan
I bought some cleaning products for my shotgun on saturday in Castle Ashby, Northants and got good advice, I think, until the chap recommended I use silicon oil to lubricate my gun. As far as I am aware, silicon oil acts as an abrasive on moving metal parts and significantly increases the rate at which rubbing parts wear out. I'll stick with proper gun oil. Correct me if I'm wrong

Beardo
silicon is good for giving an external rub, but never use on internals
