Fraxinus
I am new to Pigeon shooting and this Forum but over the last few weeks i have tried a bit of decoying with no sucess until last Friday and Saturday. I had been digging my veg patch over and observing the Pigeon activities near my house( i live in the middle of a estate and the 2 fields surrounding me are down to OSR approx 100 acres, where i have permission to shoot). They where not to bothered with the canons and kept just getting up and down all morning . So after lunch i got my gear together and following all your excelent tips i set up my hide and 2 dozen decoys in the classic U shape with the wind in my back etc. i had hardly time to load my gun when the first birds started coming in, for the first hour i had only ten shots to six birds down , but it was great to actually get some action after 3 attempts. My 8 year old was with me and we had a great time , the next hour saw less action with huge flocks that turned the sky black ( almost) we ended up with 8 for 15 shots and i was well chuffed. On Saturday afternoon i also went out and managed to get 3 in a hour and a crow so two sucessful outings back to back. Are conditions getting better am i understanding the game better? i hope both. Anyhow i will keep an eye out on the forum and see how you all are getting on.

deny essex
Nice one good to have fields near you that can be easily checked , as said it will get better as the birds break from flocking.
