Teal
Quick reminder: Think carefully before posting jokes on this Forum. If they are likely to offend, by the content or language (however disguised), don't post them. Also, avoid derailing serious threads by posting joke comments. They may be funny to you, but not to the majority of members. So far, the Moderators have just deleted any offending items and issued a few friendly warnings. But repeat offenders should be aware that too many complaints have been received, for this soft approach to continue. We're implementing a new policy of no foul language. Please don't believe that changing to **** or **** or sh?te, is acceptable either. Let's just lose the bad language altogether. The filter is in place for a reason, if you really must just post *****'s, and everyone can then insert their own words. Any personally abusive posts will be deleted and members suspended. Threads that contain a mixture of good and bad will be weeded to remove the bad whilst leaving the good. There will be no deleting of entire threads just because one or two people try to make it happen (not if there is anything of value contained within it anyway). old rooster
Very interesting situation here, similar to the one we've just been experiencing on the site of the bike club that I help to run. There we have a few warped individuals who seem to feel that any censorship of their foul language is an infringement of their right to free speech. I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination and believe that freedom of speech is a hard won, costly right that we've inherited without much effort, from a generation that knew real oppression and fear. I think it is an insult to the memories of those who paid the ultimate price to leave us the legacy of that freedom to abuse it as a matter of course. It's nothing short of an utter, unmitigated disgrace. We should try to be gracious in life, to bring a little mirth to others along the way, trying to achieve this by using profanity in a public open forum however is loutish and adds nothing of value to any posting. Values in this country are dropping badly enough already without propogating it on forums where youngsters can and do view and post on threads. It is a mainly adult membership but surely in the best interests of the future of our sport we need to encourage youngsters to take part ?. Knowing only too well how much work is involved in running and administering this type of public forum I take my hat off unreservedly to the guys who make it what it is. Keep up the good work guys, it doesn't go unnoticed !!!
