vampire
I had an old (35 yrs) baikal 12 bore o/u with double triggers and used 28g 7 1/2 steel cartridges with no problems, but you should ask someone with more knowledge on the subject like your local gun smith
kent
if it isn't steel proof tested you might still use std steel as long as the choke is no more than 1/2. However you are not meant to use hi speed steel (though i know many who do). If you have 1/2 choke or less remember and obviously the gun must be generally sound, i know a few fowlers buy Baikals because they are cheap / rugged guns and reduce the choke by chopping the barrels back a smidge rather than fork out for a brand new steel specific gun. My own spare is an old Zabala 3" that was built before steel shot existed and the choke was altered similarily and it seems to do just fine . If in any doubt take it to the gunsmith first and get the official advice and a general check of soundness as already mentioned
