Fouling ferrets

Anyone know how to stop ferrets fouling their sleeping boxes? My jills started doing it, I think after one of them had a stay at the vets where she was in a cage and had no choice. The habit has stuck and I think the others are doing it too. I have five jills in a court with a chioce of 6 boxes. During the winter they all pile into one box for warmth. At first the culprit fouled one of the empty boxes but now they foul the one they sleep in. Its not the end of the world but it is a nuisance and as the weather warms up and they need access to all the boxes its going to get worse. Also if I breed from them now this has started will they pass the habit on to their offspring?

Had this happen with one of mine before, I just cleaned the box out as many times as i could in a day, and moved a few stools into the corner i wanted them to use. After a few days she was back to using the corner. :good:

Cheers I'll try that. More house keeping needed I guess!

try cutting down the space they have to sleep in if its a large sleeping area this can make them do it as i had this problem i put a bit of ply wood in to make the sleeping quaters smaller to just leave enough room for them to sleep in and it stopped them fouling in their sleeping box
