foxnet22 Posted March 29, 2011 Report Share Posted March 29, 2011 ok lads a farmer friend of mine who is 72 is looking for a shotgun he has his mind on a 20 bore.he says he wants somthing thats nice and light for him to shoot crows .what would you recommend him to buy and what gauge?also he ,s not looking to pay silly money. HDAV Posted March 29, 2011 Report Share Posted March 29, 2011 nice bore would suit be wary of those built on 12 gauge actions, however the lighter the gun the more felt recoil. most 20 bores are 6.5-7 lb in wieght about the same as a light SxS if weight and recoil is the issue the answer is a semi auto but may not be to farmers tastes. There are a few lightwieght 12's in O/U Franchi, beretta ultralight etc. But if sticking 32g+ through it recoil could be an issue. best option is find a shop with access to a clay ground and go try a few I would say try a 20G 12 Semi and light 12 either SxS or O/U in budget?
