vulpicide
My working dogs are always kept in the house as I am of the belief that socialising and intelligence are greatly enhanced by constant stimulation and proper human contact. I have seen people suposedly terriermen trying to tease my dog in my house when it had a bone he was trying to make it growl to defend its bone I told him straight that I had spent a lot of time and effort stopping dogs from being possesive. The terriers I have just now are eleven and a half and six and a half and both are still working fox above and below ground they are my constant companions and provide security for my house and familly. Beretta28g
Well i have a kennel and run, and i think that its kinder to leave him in there during the day if im away from home rahr than be stuck indoors. However when i am at home they come in and sleep in the house too. The way i look at it is they work so hard for you during the shooting season that they deserve some comfort at other times. I have never had any furnature badly damage but they have been in the house from puppy stage so they know whats right and wrong.
pavman
Define Pet? Edit to say: great post ollie Its not easy Ollie as what defines pet to one person is not the same to another.......For the purpose of this thread only to me a working pet means a dog with” multiple roles” living full time in the home with the family and working in whatever role its owner has for it. In theory as explained to me by a top trainer (has won the IGL) is dogs that are kept outside and trained by competent trainers tend to be sharper and more focused on the working aspect as that’s what they are exclusively trained for . Of course if you don’t spend any time training a dog you wont get any reward no matter how you home it. The term working pet is absolutely not intended to inflame anyone I just can’t think of a more apt way of describing and differentiating and I was merely interested in what others do.
