Jason, I`m lucky and live in a small town, wildfowling on two sides farmland on the other two, I`ve known all the local farmers

all my life, the point I`m making is that you need to get to know people, I can`t see many farmers giving permission to a total stranger, I think you should find your local game shoots talk to the keepers and volunteer to go beating, you`ll make contacts among the other beaters, some of whoom may well work on farms at harvest time, then you volunteer to help with work on farms(if needed) to cut short the comment your not going to get permission overnight, you need to get well in with landowners, security and building always required around a farm.

Anyway mate thats the way I would go in your position. good luck Tony A.

hiya mate, valuable advice indeed, how ever the sindicate places are all took up,at present .there is a 2 to 3 year waiting list to get involved . and i drink with the most local farmer to me,biggest problem is no transport to get myself outthere,i do drive ,however in todays economic climate ,cant afford to run a car at present,i would love to get involved with the beating side ,but alas the syndicates all have there own teams . i also go out foraging with a retired keeper of 80 yrs and he even said he wasnt able to help.the only other advice he could offer me was to try a shoot share .but not to worry ill get there in end ,havent been in the shooting game this long to throw it all in. no way ,not now ,not ever.unless the government decide to stop us all,god forbid!!ive also just booked a holiday to park farm cottage in somerset in july ,to keep my eye in so to speak, once again thankyou for your time all well appreciated, and i hope to talk to you soon.

With an Air Rifle and no transport i,m afraid you,re going to have a job getting most landowners to take you seriously.Occasions where you will make a decent dent in the pest population will be few and far between and most landowners want results-fast.Some areas of the country are virtually impossible to get shooting on(and yet in some others its child,s play) so you,re giving yourself handicaps that you can do without by not having wheels-I understand that, for economic reasons, you dont have transport but I can also imagine the look on a landowners face when you explain the reason why you could,nt move the pigeons off his drilling was because the bus was cancelled. If you were closer I would be glad to help out but I fear that you are going to need a lot of luck.
