Guest
The drivers door wasn't responding to the key fob when I bought it, which wasn't so bad as opening it with the key is fine, but now a rear door has stopped too and remains locked. Fine if you've the long arms to reach back but I don't. Has anyone changed the motors in theirs? How easy? How much? Ta for any help / advice in advance

The D3's have a common fault in the rear door mechanism so search on www.disco3.co.uk and you will find info on repairing this (the part is cheap to buy and easy to fit from what i've heard) Regards, Gixer
Guest
It's one of the last D2's - a Sahara model. Bit of a ****** really, only 8 yrs old, and wiper is on the blink too
gixer1
It's one of the last D2's - a Sahara model. Bit of a ****** really, only 8 yrs old, and wiper is on the blink too I can help with the wiper!! my D2 did exactly the same, the water gets in the wiper motor shaft and siezes, take it to bits (very easy job) and remove the motor but leave it plugged in, open it up and soak the gearing in WD40, then get someone to work the switch while you help it with a spanner, it will work itself free if you persever, keep flushing the gunk and corrosion out with WD40 and then dry it off and put some lithium grease mixed with WD in (to think it down a bit) you'll need into the door to look at the catch mechanism anyway.... If you were up in this area i'd have a look at it for you.... Regards, Gixer Edited April 11, 2011 by gixer1
jimboblincs2
Is the button popping up?, but remains locked?. The older Disco's do this, it's just a small spring broken, but it means door card off and door lock out, not hard but fiddly and frustrating. As per previous instructions, lots of Disco sites will give advice, just google it. Good luck Jim
EMcC
My Disco 3 is only two years old and I've had the boot not open and the fuel cover not open twice. Had to take it back under guarantee but what is it going to cost me if the same thing happens after the guarantee runs out !!
Guest
Thanks all! Will defo try the wiper motor thing out. With the door locks, power locking will lock them, pulling buttons down, but not pop them up again on the remote or the switch on the dash. J@mes
EMCC the fuel cap gets a bit stiff, thats all. There is a little plunger which come out to lock the flap when the central locking is activated. You'll see it if you lock/unlock the car with the flap open. Keep it lubricated and you'll be fine. Boot not opening is a common problem, something snaps in the latch inside. They should have fitted an updated part which won't fail again

stevo_m
Missed this thread. I had this with the door locks, picked my 52 plate D2 up from Ireland and everything worked fine, got on the ferry locked the car, when I got back to the car after the journey the drivers door wouldn't open, no matter how many timed I pressed the fob it would stay locked. Look at the disco owners club web site there is a very good step by step guide on how to replace the lock, Unfortunatly it is a common problem and the complete unit does need replacing on each door that is broken. Look on ebay and buy new, this will give you piece of mind. I found one for I think £60.00, stripped the door down , replaced and now works perfectly.
