Sm0kah
i have a 12 week old puppy took him out my back field for a mooch. he seemed to get irritated by nettles. Is this because his pads on his paws arn't hardened up yet and will he get out of this?
butcherboy
None of my dogs like them & avoid them while training if I let them. Once they know there is something in them then there is no stopping them. Scent & drive will overcome the pain Be careful though I had a dog go into shock while we hunted all day in fresh nettles. The dog was so honest it just kept going until it collapsed. It was rushed to the vets & pumped with steroids & made a full recover. Speaking to the vet, she advised using Piriton. It is best taken before there is a reaction so my dogs get 5ml or half a tab before we go shooting in nettles. They are cheap & cheerful & if it stops a dog dying then I recommend them Edited April 26, 2011 by butcherboy

Sm0kah
good that your dog got through it. Hes my first working dog didn't know they suffered from nettle stings . sounds like a very loyal dog you have
