  1. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/254526-jack-russell-dog-pup/ A little cracker here that I'm tempted by myself. P.S it's got nothing to do with me just passing on
  2. Urgent need for a jumper? Just get one from Asda / tesco. It'll do for 1 day.
  3. Yes, use a all metal snap cap & drill out the middle part. Then you use 12g cartridge primers NOT blanks. They have the advantage of needing a screwdriver to get the bloody things out of the T&R snap cap.
  4. Why didn't you just go & use Simpson? I have a Simpson bitch at the moment, shes a flying machine. Good Luck
  5. Our family had 2 collies, both from farming backgrounds. Both great dogs but terrified of bangs. I think you'd be better of with a terrier.
  6. Or available!!! Hawcroft are wholly recommended if Simon can fit you in. Trialling season is now upon us so he will be busier than ever.
  7. I've got loads of coats, Goretex etc but the best by far in my Countrycovers Falklands Jacket & Trousers. Brilliant They now do a few jackets with more or less features depending on what you need / afford. They will also make any coat in any type of Cammo pattern if you want.
  8. As others have said, my FEO told me "if the door shuts you can have as many as you want". On renewal of cert a new FEO agreed with him I'd make some thin cotton slips (long thin pillow case style)for each gun if I was going to cram them in.
  9. I don't remember saying ALL trialling dogs were too hot! The OP needed to state what he wants it for because it is far easier to direct him. I have a young dog here who will make a lovely shooting dog & he has a cracking nature. Trial? Not unless I can stick a rocket up his **** He has came from top lines but knowing how he has turned out I wouldn't buy off that bitch again, though I would recommend her for some peoples needs (yes I know there is the the Sire to think of blah blah) I have another bitch here who is trialling this season & she is a rocket. While not claiming to be an expert there is no way I could cope with her as either my 1st dog or a house dog. She's hypher.....and I love her Its all to easy to buy FTCH x FTCH and not get a dog thats right for you, which given that these pups are now £1000 its an expensive mistake to make. Personally if I was the OP I'd get one off the trialling lads that isn't making the grade because it lacks fire, not because of any faults. Besides one cocker is never enough
  10. Go get the Hawcroft DVD series while you wait for it to arrive
  11. Adam What do you want to do with the cocker? Trial ? beating ? Shooting dog? Knowing that will help you approach the right lines. Mick has mentioned a few of the top trialling lines & along with the likes of Chyknell & Mallowdale etc you wouldn't go far wrong. These dogs will tend to be more expensive & might be far too hot for what you want need. Are you after a pup or a young bitch thats ready for trainig etc ? Let us know and we can advise.
  12. Having had a cocker stolen previously I can feel for Will. Money doesn't come into it. Hope they get the scum that do this, that includes those that buy them. Don't for one minute believe that people don't know what they are buying. £50 for a spaniel pup? Of course it's legit :yp:
  13. Fully agree Kent, but there so many out there who either don't have access to game or aren't prepared to go find it. I'm not over run with game on my training ground but I have a small pigeon loft, I pay to use a pen on a weekly basis. I travel 200 mile round trip to shoot weekly etc. Unless your lucky you need to put some effort in
  14. Great if you have game that you can go & flush every morning & night. Game that will stay in an area so you know exactly where it is. Game that some keeper doesn't mind you coursing after every day!! It will get hte message sooner or later & you might well be kicked of the shoot you're working on
  15. Simply put, you'll never know if your dog is steady to game unless it see's some game. Whats the spaniel crossed with? Where do you live that has no rabbit pen near?
