30-6
Was talking with a local farmer who was saying he had had 38 rats with the terriers after moving bales and seen a few running off. I had previously sat out in the building where he was on about with a 12v interior light off a car set up, heard some but seen none. Went for a walk and stopped off for a look around the building just as it was getting dark and seen 3 rats running a breeze block wall. Went back the next night and baited six spots along the wall with peanut butter. Seen 1 shot 1. Went back two days later seen 2 shot 1, the first was on the floor in undergrowth and un-shootable. Going back soon to trim the undergrowth a little to offer more shots. Gun was a s200 in .22 with 16g AA fields, averaging 11.2 to 11.5 ft/lbs, what was interesting though was the fact that the pellets did not exit and the range was about 15 yds, due i imagine the pellets being of soft lead. Aim point was just behind shoulder, two twitches and end of. What i did notice i might add was after the first baiting, when i went back they had gnawed the breeze block to get at the peanut butter and not a trace was left. Only a clean piece of weathered block.
