Stratts
I'm going to look at a Rizzini B Sporter O/U single trigger ejector at the weekend which will be my 1st shotgun mainly for pigeon shooting and occasional clays. It looks to be in good condition and the chap seemed very genuine when I spoke to him today about it and he thinks it's between 10 - 15 years old. It has a 26" barrel which I thought would be ideal for shooting from a hide but not sure about the chokes as it's fixed 1/4 and cylinder? What does cylinder mean? He's also gonna chuck in a slip and a couple of boxes of carts for me to get me going. Does it sound like an ideal starter gun to you more experienced chaps? Devon Fox
I had a multi choked rizzini many years ago, no negatives on the gun other than it was very heavy. Don't worry about the chokes, just make sure it fits and shoulders well for you, in my opinion it's an excellent well built starter gun. Stratts
Ok mate thanks for that I won't be walking around with it and I'm a big old unit meself so should be ok. It has a 14 1/2" LOP which may be slightly short but I can get an extender thingy on the end coz for my price range I'll never get a gun fitted to my arms anyway! TaxiDriver
I've recently started shooting and have bought two s/h O/U Rizzinis, A 12g 28" from my local RFD, only thing I've found is it's a bit heavy, but maybe I'm not used to it. and a 20g O/U from a local chap, with the idea that my wife or 10yr old son can handle it with 21gram carts. But truthfully, I like it for clays as well and it's lighter for carrying in the field.
Stratts
Forgot to say the cost is £250 with the slip and carts Hopefully it'll be as good as it sounds
dougall
At that price you cant go too wrong..Cylinder is effectively no choke(not a problem nice and open). It sounds like you are a 'big unit',26 inch barrels at shorter end of things but Ok for a hide gun.
Simon123
My cousin bought a Multi Choke Rizzini last year for £80 as his first gun. The gun is mechanically sound, but the barrels' needed re-blacking (still hasn't been done ), and the wood was in a bit of a state but, the gun was being used for rough shooting and for foxing, so he wasn't bothered about the condition, and he can shoot very well with it even though it is slightly heavy for my liking, But you cant go wrong for £80 can you  There is nothing wrong with Rizzini's and if you like it and it fit's you tidily, then it will be a very good first shotgun :good: , but then again if your budget allows in the future i'm sure you'll move on in no time to another gun as i did  . I started off with a Lanber Field 28" Multi choke then within 4 or 5 months i moved on to get a Escort Magnum 28", which i love (OH and mine works ), but thankfully i didn't sell the Lanber as it was a beautiful gun to use and swing's beautifully but i just seen that i needed a change as any man would  Edited May 10, 2011 by Simon123
