Pheasant Feeder
Been made aware of a 5 month old Lab bitch for re-homing. Dam pet, sire Working dog. Not looking to create a FTCH just a good dog that can work to a standard that I'm happy with. Saturdays during pheasant season bit of pigeon shooting, bit of rabbiting may-be a bit of duck flighting. Whats the collective opinion can it be achieved? If so whats the problems likely to be anticipated?

If so whats the problems likely to be anticipated? its all down to how you train them,my mate had a bitch given to him she was about 2 years old,he knocked it into shape in no time and picked up on one of the biggest shoots in the country 90 days straight with it,this season there will be 120 days so we wil be busy if you dont want ity and its going cheap or free let me know he will take it as hes looking for another dog
col48
I would make sure both parents where hip and eye scored. and only then would i think of taking it on. i have seen a few dogs with hip displacia and i would not wish that on any one/not even my worst enemy. so do a bit of checking up before you even consider taking it on. Highlander
There's an old old saying...never look a gift horse in the mouth! Besides if it doesn't work out you can always take it for a longgggggggggggggggwalk!
WGD
Just because the dam is a pet doesn't mean she is show stock; is she KC reg and can you see her papers? If there is a lot of ShCh (Show Champion) in the 3 gen pedigree on the dams side I would give it a miss, you can get better breeding without any difficulty. In all probability the dog will be fine as a worker, I would look for hip scores from both parents before taking on any lab though.
