Lesson learnt for novice

Well, I had a very enjoyable morning today.

Not the biggest bag for some, but beat my score. 12 in total (9 jackdaws, 3 crows lost one in the hedge)

Got to the farm nice and early and set up by 7am. Before I had even got back into the hide, they were trying to land. :good:

I set the hide up under some trees at edge of field, approx 40yds out from a cattle feeder, that I knew the birds have been attracted to over the past few weeks. This was the first week the cows had not been in the field, so able to get in there.

Set up 2 crow decoys out about 35yds, and a magpie decoy 15 yds off to left side.

Within 10 mins I had 3 birds to add to pattern. 2 more added 10 mins later.

After about a hour, I put out a bouncer with one of the Jackdaws on, and got another 3 within 15 mins. I shot one, whilst putting up the bouncer!!

All in all, a good 2hrs in the end, with 12 dead, 6 birds missed that I should have had. 20 carts fired, with a Berretta 682 12G, 20:12 ratio.

Was nice to see the birds coming in 3 or 4 at a time, and nice to know, that when everything is just right, you get some good shooting.

So the lesson learnt TAKE MORE CARTS,ran out, thought I had more in car, but had forgot them.

so packed up and went home, for tea and medals.

Back out on monday :D

That seems like a good day mate! We all make these little mistakes, which I think is a good think as long as we learn from them. :good:

Now all you have to do is to work on beating your new personal best again! Good luck, it will happen for you and then yet again you can set your sights for an even higher total!
