JustJon
Wow, a very different experience 2 days in a row for someone new into the sport. I went to R&K Stockcraft in Stoney Stratford yesterday - what a friendly/helpful welcome. They realised it was my first time in, talked to me about what I needed, pointed out there was more upstairs, came up to make sure I was ok and generally kept smiling and looking after the customer. I'll be heading back for sure. Then was at a country show today, there was a chap selling Bisley hearing defenders and shotgun shell frames. I was looking at the ear defenders, would like a pair myself and thought the pink ones would be good for the girlfriend taking up the clays. Chap in front of me (elderly, dressed like a country chap) was greeted and welcomed. He didn't shoot and was just looking. I was ignored as store holder went back to enjoying the sun. Jeans and a t shirt may not make me look like a customer, I may look young, I may not dress up at weekends so look like I cant afford expensive defenders but I earn a good wage and had cash. More fool him. I'll take my cash to R&K and see if they want to sell me some new ear defenders.
Alycidon
My major competitor has the same attitude, go in there in jeans and they are reluctant to talk to you, wellies and they ignore you, suit and they are all over you liek a rash. I love it !!. A
kent
I spent a great deal of time training sales people, the misconceptions they often hold about who will buy are totally remarkable and you know what they are usually correct - by default many years in the game taught me the only person you can never realy sell to is the guy who says he is "definatly" going to buy- before they know about what your selling and how much thats my own little quirk you see- but it has real fact behind it. So its just a case of get on with it if your selling and go elsewere to buy if you find it difficult to buy
