Albert 888
Hi all. I work at a big cement works wich is over populated with pigeons.I have put my name forward to get shut of some.I would be shooting them with air rifle and maybe pistol out of works time and for no capital gain.Would my basc insurance cover me.As that would be the only reason why they wouldnt let me.Also i am a saftey officer within works so all risk assessments and so on would be done.I would be shooting them inside and outside buildings. There would be only be 7-10 people at work and i would be in radio contact. many thanks. Bleeh
I'm fairly sure it would. But you best bet would be to either email/phone BASC directly!

dadioles
I have asked a similar question of BASC recently and they replied extremely quickly and efficiently to confirm that we are covered for this sort of "unrewarded" activity and the only time there would be some doubt is if we are being paid "professionally" as in earning taxable income from it. Rewards such as "keep the rabbits you shoot" do not count. "It would become commercial if you were to charge a fee for your services, or if you generated income that would need to be declared to HMRC for example." So get on with it.... Browning GTS
Albert you mentioned maybe pistol for the pigeons. Pistols are not really up to the job even a max 6fb one would be a bit iffy unless you are within a couple of yards of the bird, 12fb rifles ok out to 25-30 yards. David BASC
No problem at all with what you are proposing to do. By the way, I am on holiday next week looking after my two youngest, so may not be able to get on the forum as often as normal.
