had to sell hmr

I was actually thinking towards selling it after i had the Hornet fully sussed, contrary to what they seem to think i am not a collector.

Not being able to set up a new rifle before moving on an old one is a serious issue with UK law. Especially if you need your rifles regularly.

Hopefully when the Hornet arrives you can get it sorted quickly. If you happen to go straight into a load that works for you that will be great, and the OAL variation etc doesn't seem to count for accuracy so much anyway. I always load mine as long as I can get in the mag - it will always be miles off the lands anyway which is probably why a good crimp makes such a difference in most guns. With Lil-Gun I'd start at 12gr and work up to 13gr in .2 steps. You'll not notice any pressure signs even with a full case but it's worth working up to find the most accurate load.

it would be more than not used during the year more if you show little use between renewals but at least over a couple of years. Its easy to leave one in the cabinet and not use it much which a lot of people do with their .22's when they get an HMR. Its not usually an issue but if they think you are just building up a collection rather than using them it can come into play.

Useage is not an issue, i use them all -a lot! i don't think i would have used it as much when the Hornet comes though, the balistic advantage is quite a lot in favour of the Hornet takes over an inch less wind at 100 yds and its very much more capable at 200yds something the Hummer was hyped for but never realy was very good at. Thing is i always sort of felt the HMR a good gun for those summer days of very light winds when you just can't close the gap on those bunnies with the .22, but i suppose that use alone makes it of marginal use as the Hornet will do foxes way better and the crows are gonna have to learn a whole new safe zone round our house in a few ays time ;)

I hope I never get this sort of problem. It's so annoying knowing you are right but not wanting to rattle their cage too much because of the potential fallout. Unfortunately its usually easier to just abide by their bad decisions which of course aren't open to scrutiny unless you do take legal action so nobody knows if they are doing their job properly or not.
