decoyally Posted June 24, 2011 Report Share Posted June 24, 2011 shot my first magpie with my .17 hmr at around 70 yards today. was wondering what to do with it to attract more magpies....is it best to prop it up as a decoy or just let it lie there. wud it be better to put it in the larson trap. not sure wat to do, answers wud be appreciated thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Frenchieboy Posted June 24, 2011 Report Share Posted June 24, 2011 I use bamboo kebab skewers. Stick one up through the breast and neck till it is touching the skull. You can then mount it on a fence post or in the ground if the grass is short enough to try to attract it's mates to within shooting distance. This will sometimes attract crows in to mob it as well - An added bonus! The same applies to pigeons and corvids. Much better than plastic decoys!
