In summer it's cool and doesn't harbour beasties (fleas), another plus if you have pets. We do put a rug down in winter but it's more for the mutts to be honest. It's a mid-range laminate, it looks...OK, not fantastic but respectable, but we live in a rented property and paid for it ourselves, as such, I wasn't about to lay thousands of pounds worth of wood. I would recommend it. Our lounge/diner and hall is laminated with tiles in the kitchen and cloakroom, not a carpet on the grund floor. It works well for us.
