Having bought 5 bronze turkeys and some chickens this afternoon and housing them in one of the woods were I shoot. I feel I have a duty to stop them getting eaten. So I parked my jimny between two tractors, loaded the .243 with 100 grains of remington core lock and dug out the night vision. Pulled up for 10pm as it was getting dark. The wood is 80yards to my right and there a hedge 90 yards in front that funnels the foxes into the cut silage field. Its 23:20 and the first fox appears in the nv scope on the edge of the wood. I try to twist my body enough to get a shot flick the lamp on and pull the trigger, click. I reach for the bolt and the gun gose of sending the bullet high and into the wood. Charlie fox runs of unharmed. 23:55 another fox picked up in the nv this time in front. I rest the rifle on the wing mirror flick the lamp on and send 100grains crashing into Charlie's vital organs. 00:15 another fox spotted this time were the wood meets the hedge an easy shot. Flicks the lamp on and the fox turns its head to look behind it. I've all the time in the world and I MISSED. Let the shot off charlie hit the deck got back up and run away. Now its heavy rain so I've packed in hoping the turkeys are ok. Be back out at 6 so I'll take some pics in morning.
