I went to the Co-op the other day with the youngest in the pushchair and bags on the handles..... how NICE it would have been to have a robotic chicken to open the door for me atvb (I'll get my coat.......) deltacharlie26 Posted July 20, 2011 Report Share Posted July 20, 2011 i was looking at the solar powered / solar operated ones - very nice, but silly money I have one of these for nearly a year and yes it was silly money, BUT, I don't have to get up early, never forget to close the coop door at night, and the fox doesn't get them cos I forgot to close the door one time. The motor is really quite powerful and I have remote mounted the solar panel to catch the sun. The door to the coop is in the run under cover. If I remember right, the cost was just over £100, cost of replacing chickens after a visit from Foxy - £££'s plus the mess and heartache. If it broke, I would replace it or get rid of the chickens.
