Can't wait to finish work!!!!

Recommended Posts

Went out for a walk with the dog this morning on one of my permissions, and took a completely different way to usual after a good 20 minutes walking i saw lots of pigeons dropping into a field of standing wheat. on closer inpection there is a flattened area about 25 yards out from the hedge.

I stood in the hedge and watched for about 10 mins and must of counted about 60 birds coming in and out of the patch with a good flightline along the hedgeline too :good:

Just managed to sneak out of work for a little bit and looking through the binos they are still hitting it hard, so the gun and decoys are loaded into the truck and i will be leaving about 4pm so hopefully they will still be there.

I reckon the afternoon is going to drag a bit :lol:

when i got to the area there were still a good number of pigeons around, so i quickly put out 12 shells, either in the flattened area or on the standing crop and i put out 3 floaters in the tram lines near to the flattened spot.

Within 10 minutes i had hit 3 birds and i was starting to wonder if i had brought enough cartridges when all of a sudden there were no birds to be seen anywhere :hmm:

I stuck at it until 7.30 and finished with 6 pigeons (only 4 picked) and 5 crows who were all taken off of the flightline along the hedge.

On the way out i decided to have a drive around and i spotted the reason for the lack of pigeons, they had just finished cutting the first 2 rape fields and the whole area was blue with pigeons, after a chat with the driver of the combine they are planning to be cutting all weekend as long as the weather holds out, so hopefully i might be able to make a good bag or 2 soon :good:
