The Essex Hunter
hi all how long are long net poles thanks wb Depends on the type of long net and how much bag you what in the bottom of it. I use 22mm wooden poles, which suits wetter ground, so I will set out mine on the field, which has been ploughed, and one of the other lads will use his nets with fibreglass poles and set out on a headland or track which is generally harder ground. Therefore, check out where you are going to be long netting as if you have stony ground, a fibreglass pole might be better suited. I like my wooden poles as they work well for me. So, in answer to your question mine are 31 inches long leaving 6 inches to push in the ground. I use these on all my 25/50yard 6oz nets. Last but not least this is a fixed pole system, with 4 poles on a 25yd net, and a spacing of 7 ish yds on the 50yd nets. TEH
craftycarper
a rough rule of thumb (if using hazel) and probably most other things is from your armpit to your fingertips.
