The Essex Hunter
I was recently granted a FAC for a .243 on my first application, as expected a mentoring condition was placed on the licence. With in the letter, there is a reference to the Firearms Law: Guidance to Police paragraph 13.30. I have been through the 2002 edition guidance notes a couple of times, and found 13.30 which reads. 13.30 An applicant who wishes to shoot deer should name land which has the likelihood of the appropriate deer species being present, and an invitation, booking or authority to shoot. Many deer stalkers will rely on invitations to shoot on payment rather than be hired or paid to do so and may not be able to shoot regularly or frequently, though others may be permanently employed, for example Forestry Commission staff. Hunting large animals with powerful rifles requires particular skill, and applicants should generally have experience of firearms. If there is a different section, I should be looking at, could somebody point me in the right direction. TEH
Piebob
My take is that they have given you a mentoring condition, and are simply justifying it by pointing you to the bit that reads Hunting large animals with powerful rifles requires particular skill, and applicants should generally have experience of firearms. i.e. they are saying that they don't believe you have this experience, therefore have applied the mentoring condition. Difficult to say for sure without seeing the exact wording in the letter.
dadioles
Surely it is the wording on the licence that matters. The letter does not form part of the licence - I assume - and is just there to give a bit of advice or clarification.
