Having owned and worked Cockers for some years now iam thinking of having my 3 year old bitch lined with a freind compatable dog.She showed the first signs of coming into season Three days ago and wondered which would be the best time to line her with the Dog. Apart from the obvious is there any guild line you can offer on a successful mating.

After the mating when is the best time to take her to the vets?

Can any one offer any other good advice to help me along the way while she is carring the pups exercise, diet , etc

Give my mate a call, you will get nothing but good advice. Gareth find him here (heolybwlchgundogs.co.uk)

My cocker is about 32 days pregnant now.

I took her to meet the stud on the first day of her season and there was plenty of interest from both sides.

On day 12 we went back and they mated, and tied for about 20 minutes. We did keep a hold of them though as the dog was keen to get away after 5 minutes. For some unknown reason and some advice from here, I decided not to take her back for a second go.

On day 28 we went to the vets and had a scan to confirm there were at least three pups.

Hopefully, pups should be due around the 10th September.

All the best
