Hi all. I seem to recall a post with info on getting a rifle threaded and moderator purchased for a good price.

However, I cant find it now!

Could someone please advise me on the cheapest way of getting my Tikka T3 threaded, proofed and modded?

many thanks

Jon

Getting it proofed means it won't be cheap as it has to shipped up and down to the proof house.

Try asking Ladds or someone down your way what they do, they must have done hundreds of them over the years.

I just post my barrel to Steve Kershaw up in Doncaster, he did a perfect job for 50 quid + P&P, didn't bother with the proofing lark, maybe I am bit carefree - who knows eh :good:

Just taken mine to Severn Valley Guns to have it shortened and threaded. Very good bloke, with his own little workshop; £80 INCLUDING RE-PROOF.

£50 without proof is all well and good, and I know that Steve is a very good bloke, but you will not be able to re-sell that gun at any time in the future  as it would be illegal to do so without having it re-proofed. So it is a false economy not to have it done at the time of threading.

If you really want to use Steve Kershaw (and he is one of the best in the country  ) then why not have it re-proofed at the same time and save any worries about the future.
