Pigeons in the rain

Funny thing yesterday, when the rain finally came down, latish around 7pm, and I was thinking of packing up, the pigeons suddenly started coming into the decoys..I was wet through by then so thought I would hang on and managed to shoot 4/5 in the space of ten minutes. Perhaps they were desperate for some food having dodged the showers all day. Even as I fetched the truck they still came in, despite the dark conditions.

The last 3 wet days we've had here produced nearly an inch of rain each time and it's rained most of the day.

 

On the first day we had 116 for 155 shots, on the second day 45 for 155 shots and on the third day 139 for 350 shots (2 sharing a hide).

 

The birds few all day.

Blimey your clients can't complain about lack of chances!

Hoping for some wind this weekend to improve the decoying, last few days have been still and birds have been difficult to get under.

As im pretty new to this, im taking it that the rain normally puts the birds off does it?
