Hunting on Dairy Farm

Evening all,

Another post about my seemingly eternal struggle to entice wildlife but I was wondering if anybody could suggest the best way to hunt animals on a farm used for dairy and breeding purposes?

As you can imagine there are no fields that support crop growth and there are generally cows in at least 1 field when the weather is half decent. This makes it difficult to get pigeon or any other animal to settle down for that matter as there is not really anything there for them to eat or graze on. The birds generally steal the chicken feed and there are rabbits near a brook/wooded area but that in itself is quite open.

There is quite a good spot in an abandoned cottage which has small pillbox-like slats that look out into the top field.

I don't own any decoys or hides, pigeon magnets etc

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, below is a satellite view of the farm that I hunt on. The Green ticks are fields in which I can shoot because they are away from the houses at the bottom.

All suggestions or advice welcome! :thanks:

Andy, you should still get sport on daiy farm ! Rats as they seem to be every where, crows esp when the silage is cut , and rabbits which will be competing for the grass so these will be number 1 pest to the farmer ! Also if the farmer has any maize that should pull some birds onto the stubble also ! :good:

Annoyingly mate a lot of the time the birds are in and around the field adjacent to the row of houses at the bottom which is a field I can't really use. I was thinking maybe the best spot could be near the brook (where the bunnies live) as this is on an incline so I might be able to lie down and have a clear LOS down the entire hedgerow, would probably need some camo netting I'm guessing though.

Rooks and Crows can give you some good sport if there are rooks around try and shoot a couple then put them out like decoys I have found others will come and mob the dead ones, friend of mine puts an owl decoy out and rekons the crows and magpies mob that, never sen him in action though so dont know how good that works
