B25Modelman
My son and I attended this venue on Friday afternoon. The chaps running the venue were very pleasant and helpful. The traps are nicely laid out in a small valley over a few hundred metres long. Up one side and back down tother. The walkways are clean cut grass and tidy. Stands are either wood or metal with wood chip flooring The traps are fully automated and controlled by a clay credit type card system. At book in the card is loaded with as many clays as you like. We had 220, providing 100 each and few extras for breakages, which we only had one. You place the card on the controller and select any sequence of clay, singles, on report pairs or doubles. You pay at the end for the clays used. The cost is £25 per 100 which IMHO is a good price. We pay £15 for 50 at a local shoot. You also get a loyalty card whereby after 750 birds you get 50 free, which is a nice touch. We found the walk round very relaxing as there were few other shooters, it being a Friday and the holiday silly season. The venue is simple with no flash expensive add-ons which keeps costs down. (I hope the proprietor, if viewing, does not mind this comment) In short this venue is well worth visiting if you are within striking distance or a nice day out if further away. Lunch in Stockbridge would be a nice added touch. I liked the quartering high pheasant where you can shoot from 5 locations....only because I hit 10 x 10 maybe....using my beloved skeet gun. Their web site is, http://www.spitfireshoot.co.uk/ Note, Gun Certificates must be shown. The only disappointing part of the day was when we called in at a local pub and the Gold Muddler was off...but the Ringwood Best was a good replacement. TheEnforcer
I know its reviving a 3 year old post, but aside from the prices, nothing has changed here which is nice. I am sure the layouts have been updated and adjusted, but according to B25ModelMans review I can completely agree with what he says and I only visited a few weeks ago. Very relaxed in a good way, nice informal introduction and explanation of the layout and the clay system. Cartridges on the day are a bit pricey so make sure you bring your own which have to be fibre wad and under 28grams. Complimentary Tea/Coffee is on hand to keep you warm when you aren't filling the skyline with lead. I will definitely be returning even though it is a fair trek for me to get there.
