I use a Fuji F455, its very small and fits in my pocket on my wading jacket. It's very handy not being heavy or large but still gives reasonably good pics. I had similar advice from a pro-photographer last year, his advice was that Canon know what they are doing with the bit of glass at the front, and the chip inside. I ended up buying a Canon EOS 350D.
