Rat shooting???

Hi all,

After a bit of advice/peoples experiances with shooting rats, I have seen on a few occasions the odd rat running from a chicken shed during the day, and the other day when a mate was leaving he seen one run accross the drive in front of his landy, I've had a look around the ground, hedgerows etc and can't see any obvious runs. I know I could put poison down or traps but there a bit boring so thought I'd have a go with the air rifle.

So my questions are do I put some bait down to attract them to a certain spot for a few days then wait for them?

When is the best time for them day time, night time????

What is a good bait??

Any advice appriciated :good:

If you want a bit of "sport" then try and shoot a few, but I have never known shooting to eradicate rats.

A much more concerted approach is generally required, commonly involving, removing food/water sources, hygiene, proofing, trapping, poisoning, gas, dogs, etc etc! :good:

Agree with what your saying, trouble is the chickens in question are my sisters an I've told her several times about putting the feeder out on the floor etc as it will attract rats an guess what she still puts it on the floor, she hasn't seen a rat there yet so obviously there isn't any haha I've made feeders out of 60ltr drums up off the ground and theres no rats around my chicken houses/pens so that defo works, will tell her to pull her finger out and move it off the ground. In the mean time I'll have some fun shooting them
