cockercas
Only advice I can give is. Look down the barrel and make sure the rifling isn't worn smooth.
Beardo
If you can, shoot it before you buy it!
kent
Without a borescope peering down the tube will achieve nothing. I have a .243" here that still shoots great but coppers uplike you wouldn't believe after half a dozen rounds. Throat errosion and firecracks cannot be seen without a scope. 1. Check the bolt face closely after removing from the action for pitting or an etched in type ring (indicative of over hot loads or other presure related issues) 2. check the bolt engagement lugs for wear and galling 3. is the bluing worn on the bolt handle (if so its done a lot of shooting) 4. if threaded is it very well done nice and clean and sharp 5. The crown is it even, is it cracked 6. stock to action and barrel fit 7. inside the stock, any cracks, any softness or sighn of oil or solvents soaking into the bedding areas. The most important bit of all this is how much do you think it has done, 243" burns barrels fast and thats just a fact but there are plenty about and some have only seen 20 rounds a year through them
