gyp
After seeing all the photos from Billy and Bakerboy i wanted some crayfish action. I started doing some research in the rivers around me and looking into if i needed a license or not (i don't want to fall foul of the law.!!). well i found a page on the Environment agency website http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/recreation/fishing/38045.aspx and a number to call. I spoke to a man that said i have to have a licence all my traps tagged and on top of this there are bylaws in some areas that stop you taking Crayfish for food. I'm not sure what to do now, i told my six year old lad we were going Crayfish hunting at the weekend.
Billy.
The problem is that the EA seem very caught up in enforcing the law, but don't actually bother. The water bailiffs say to fish away and they are told the same by the EA. The EA aren't keen on handing out licences, but turn a blind eye to those who are fishing. I was on the phone to the EA, as I have submitted my applicaiton for a CR1 licence. They said you're fine to fish using a piece of bacon on a string. Edited September 6, 2011 by Billy. Billy.
Thats what i thought might be the case, how do i find the water bailiffs for the area Billy? Find the name of your local river and look up the angling consortium for that stretch of river. The water bailiff will more than likely be listed for that stretch. Hi Billy brother Alan went to Hertford yesterday 60-70 in the hour as usual, he spoke to the Bailiff as he has been reading the threads, and as has been said they are turning a blind eye, just want the crayfish out, as GYP states "why does it have to be so hard"
