ack-ack
The Beagle on occassions has been known to roll in whatever she deems foul enough. A few days ago I noticed a slightly off smell when she came in and took her outside to check for Charly **** go faster stripes. There were none and she appeared clean. Last night as soon as she came in the room I could smell the same as previous but more intensly. I got right up close to her gave her a good sniff over at close quarters but still could not ascertain the source of the smell. Her breath was the usual and there were no signs of rolling. This morning I caught her licking and on closer inspection I could see the fur on her legs wasn't laying right. It was a bit too proud. Closer inspection still revealed what looked like a sticky skin secretion that had effectively bonded clumps of approx 5 hairs together and when rubbed these came away from the follicles easily. I conitinued checking and round her Rover Badge this secretion was more noticeable though it had not come from the RB but was around it. I've got her going into the vets at 1800 and I'm hoping its nothing more serious than the usual £200 pound disease. Any thoughts chaps? ack-ack
Doesnt explain the sticky secretions on her lower legs belly side though. Its the front legs as well. All I can think of is that she's sustained grazes from the stubble and something mitey or whatever has got under the skin and is causing some sort of weird reaction. rabbiter
+1 for anal gland,my lakeland terrier had exact same problem, when they become blocked,it ends up like a great big white head, then pops and the puss is secreted and ends up almost everywhere after the dog has been lying down or even running about, keep us posted after your trip to the vets mate... ack-ack
Well I took her in this morning and she was humming. I went in to see the vet and she couldn't believe the smell. When I asked her what I should do to sort it out she suggested doing up my fly and not lifting my arms up then I brought the hound in. She checked the tea towel holder and there were no blocked glands and prescribed a medicated shampoo and some antibiotics. She said that the hound had a yeast infection of the skin. She's never had it before. Back in 7 days for a check up. Thankfully the worst of the utter ming has gone but she's still pretty high.
