Alex C
Hi Guys After looking at some peoples attempts at making their own knives, i have been inspired to have a go at my own. Now i want to do the type with scales glued on as they look easier. I have also had the grand idea of getting the same wood / colour as my Miroku (Mk60 grade 5) Can you guys who have been here before give me an idea of where best to buy the blade and what type of wood i would need for the scales to match my gun stock ? Also as the wood is quite dark, can anyone tell me would i need to stain the wood and then oil it or would whatever wood i get already be that colour after oiling ? Some right ****** questions, i know but I would like to do something which turns out well, rather than the usual half ***** jobs i normally turn out Cheers Alex
Diceman
I'm scaling one of these at the moment: http://heinnie.com/Knives/-Knife-Kits/Misc-Blanks/Misc-Blanks-Damascus-Drop-Point/p-92-881-882-6536/ This is a good list of knifemaking stuff suppliers: http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?39321-Knifemaking-stuff-online-suppliers A grade 5 Miroku would be walnut I think? I would try oiling a bit up first before staining and see how it looks.
