Dead-Eyed Duck
My first centre fire was a 0.223 Sako Varmint. I replaced this with a Remi 700 Varmint 22-250 as I thought that the additional range would be an advantage. Then added a Tikka 0.17 Rem, which I found was extremely accurate but fiddly to reload, and affected by wind. Finally I sold the Remi and the Tikka and bought a Sako 75 0.223 standard. I only bought the Sako as I thought that the trigger was better. Accuracy is no different to the Remi. The only vague regret that I have is that the standard barrel means that you cannot have a long target session, as the heat build up in the standard barrel means that the groups open up after 10 - 15 rounds. The obvious upside to the standard barrel is that if you are carrying the gun for a few miles at night then you don't have a sore shoulder the following day. I have a T8 fitted, and whilst it does look bulky, it does the business. I have a foam cover fitted to the T8 which helps considerably in reducing the high pitched part of the noise level.
