Setting up a Clay Trap

Hi,

This is a stupid question - but hey it's what I do best. The answer is probably so self explanatory I'll bang my head up the wall when someone explains in one-syllable words only!

So...

Got a little clay trap that we use. Teals, going away birds and incomers are all fine. But using it as a crosser the clay flies but only ever presents the edge - is there a way to get it to "show face" as it flies?

Need to practice crossers but don't want to start with the hardest target/least surface area seen.

Hope that makes sense?

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon, Yes it is very easy to launch crossers showing a bit of 'face'.

All you need to do is tilt the trap over slightly with a block of wood under a leg or under the base, depending on how it is mounted. The greater the tilt the more 'face' you see.

You must ensure that the trap is secure and will not fall over when the clay is launched.

The clays will also 'loop' slightly.

Vic.

Make sure you tilt it the right way else the clay will drop off the arm

Top Tip - if it is a manual sit on type trap then stack your clays on the left side by your thigh,

if you stack them on the right side and slightly forward you could end up with a trap arm in your

left lughole - seen it happen - ouch!
