Frenchieboy
I am thinking of changing my much loved SxS for a Semi Auto, thinking on the principal of "one gun for all shooting". Most of my shooting is basically general rough shooting and crow and pigeon decoying but I do shoot clays occasionally with our club (We have several club guns available which I get on with OK so no problem there) I also want a gun that will suffice for the occasional fox so I would prefer one which is chambered for 3 inch cartridges, and ideally able to take steel shot for a bit of wildfowling should I ever get the chance to do any. I have seen a Mossberg 9200 advertised at what I think is a reasonable price (£180 Pre-Owned and said to be in fairly good condition) which is chambered for 3 inch cartridges and has an adjustable choke and was I wanting to know if anyone on here used/owns one and what they think of them. Maybe I should add that I usually use a 70mm 30g 6 shot cartridge (Gamebore Clear Pigeon) for most of my rough shooting but would like to be using a 3 inch with a much heavier load for foxes. My biggest worry is the recycling problems that I have heard that some semi auto shotguns have. Does anyone on here own/shoot a Mossberg 9200 and if so can they offer an honest review of them so as to possibly save me from wasting my money? lincs1963
Morning Frenchie, I bought quite an old 9200 about a year ago, since then I have put about 5000 cartridges through it and the only problem was when I was given a box of 21g carts instead of 28's. It has mainly been used for clays with 28's but has also had a fair few 24's and 30's and above through it. cannot fault it's reliability. To be honest I do better with the mossberg than with the wifes SX3. hope this helps, regards, Neil.
Frenchieboy
Thanks for the reply Niel, and yes it does help. How do you find the weight of the gun if you are rough shooting please?
