Deako
Buzz/BD, Still busy working at it. The problem is that to develop any new mechanical product means an outlay of around £10K...its not possible to gear up to make just a few items, otherwise the retail price would be enormous. So you have order in motors, dead bird cradle, etc, in the hundreds to get the price down...BUT...you then have to sell enough to at least cover the cost of the production! Then there is the competition...you have to be at least as good, or better, at least as cheap, or cheaper, than everyone else...but still cover the cost. We think a flapper needs to be remote controlled to be effective...its no good going all the time, or intermittently...YOU have to use it just at the right time for maximum effect. Does it need to mount on a rotary device?...or not?...how complex should it be?...how can you get enough up/down movement in the wing rods to look as real as possible whilst still remaining competitive on your prices? When the flapping unit is finished, how long will it be before its copied?!! All these things need to be addressed, and we are giving the prototype flapping units a good testing, but, at the moment, peeps will just have to buy from our competitors...ouch!... As soon as the new units are ready though, PW members will be the first to know.
