Anthony
Had a great days clay pigeon shooting today and am possibly going pigeon shooting in the next couple of days. But am not sure about cartridge type for the AL391. The manual recomends 2 3/4 inch to 4 inch chambers but I have a load of 2 1/2 inch cartridges. Someone told me that these are suitable in a larger chambered gun such as the 391 but, some cartridges work others don't. Does anyone else use 2 1/2 inch chambered cartridges in the 391 and is it OK to do so. thanks Tony
ernyha
Anthony i have shot hundreds of Express pigeon special 2 1/2 shells through my 391 and they perform perfectly. Just bought another 1000 for it .
Anthony
Thanks Ernyha Had a great day yesterday, did not amount to a large bag but certainly kept the pigeons off the peas for a while. The cartridges worked well and there were no faults, I am very pleased with my gun and its performance. Look foreward to using it again soon
Hammergun
The main difference with longer cartridges is that you end up with a sore shoulder after using them. You are no less likely to miss with a long cartridge than a short one. Usually it just means that there is more propellant and / or shot, but the spread width is the same.
