nobby
After nearly a year of asking various venues I have finally got permission on a golf course which is a welcome addition to the portfolio. The only downside (as I explained to the groundsman) is some of thier issues will not be able to be sorted by me. They have issues with corvids but I'm only allowed to shoot at night and am fully aware you cant lamp birds. Badgers and foxes and I only shoot sub 12ft/lb and although I have no argument with people that do take them with fac I only shoot what I can eat. And lastly Moles. I will be speaking to a pest control aquaintance to see if he can offer some advice that I can pass on but if any of you have tips for him (I wont be doing it) I would be grateful. But I should have a good time filling the pot with bugs.
stubby
make sure your not seen to be doing "pest control" around the area with badgers, wether your there for them or not, they will come down on you like a ton of bricks
nobby
Cheers for the heads up. It's not something that immediatley springs to mind. I do generally air of the side of discretion tho.
spookytooth
Congratulations on getting your permission mate. We've got a golf course as well. We are very grateful for getting shooting permission at all, but to be honest the only thing is it's getting a bit boring only being able to shoot at night (we only go for rabbits). We keep plugging away at local farms etc. so hopefully something may come up in the future. At least we have a permission!
ajm1979
Well done getting your permission. My first decent rabbit permission was a Golf Course, nearly a year ago. They can be hard work at times as you can only shoot at night and generally can only ever walk the course, also the rabbits tend to be very quick on the short grass so good stalking with an air rifle especially will be essential. These dark nights however do mean you can get plenty time put in to keep them happy and knock the bunny numbers down, I'm just waiting for this full moon to go so I can hammer it a few times. Good luck with the farm hunt m8 I have a couple now, it is good to have a change of scenery and stops the quarry getting used to you. You will probably find when you get one they will put you on to another as they all talk, a bottle usually helps aswell.
